Summer for some people means holiday, chilling out, however for farmers it is the most busy time of the year for sure!

Why I am writing about?
If you never work during summer - I mean harvesting it is more likely you do not know what hard work is all about...
As a child I do remember participating in harvesting, it was very much hard and mostly manual work. When I say hard I do mean hard. Sun is shining, and time is very limited as most of the cases weather play important role. To ensure work should be finished by the storm, rain, etc.

If you want some more sophisticated definition of harvesting; Wikipedia describe this as a ''process of gathering a ripe crop from the fields. Reaping is the cutting of grain or pulse for harvest, typically using a scythe, sickle, or reaper''.
This is how harvesting is looking like now in Poland.

Now more than less everything is mechanical, but still all the seeds need to be moved to the secure store and with the best technology improvement certain jobs will need to be done by people. Read as better than any gym session. Trust me. I never had so much sweat rolling down my back like today and yesterday.
Even is so hard work and so many years goes by I still like taking part in harvesting only if I can.
Why?
It is great deal of respect and in the end of day you learn to look at food from different way.
Some people would call this child labor, however even with time I look at this as the best motivation lesson I ever got.
If you want something you really need to work for it.
You need to see how food is created fro the source. When you will work towards it you will learn to have healthy respect to people who work hard while you are having holiday, and if you are so bored you could go to the farmers and ask if they need a helpful hand during this time. I would be kind of surprise to hear if they would say no...
