Did JK Rowling make a mistake by pairing Ron and Hermione?

I am an avid Harry Potter fan and love the books. However, I am very similar to Hermione and don't think Hermione needs to be doing Ron's work as well as hers for the rest of her life. If you think Ron/Hermione are an awesome couple, tell me. If you don't, what non-canon pairings do you like with Hermione?
Krumione was sweet, but it probably wouldn't have worked out.
