The first steemit Happy Whiskey wednesday.

Ok so @dreemit has brought us happywhiskywednesday to steemit. Now as if I need an excuse to rush out and buy a bottle...

So a couple of months ago I posted about my family stories that were often retold at family gatherings so I'd thought I'd go back to that subject and share a happy memory of my mum.
Now mum was a very practical woman, she got things done in a matter of fact way. Growing up in a small farming community (you couldn't call it a village as it had neither a shop or a pub.) in post war England when rationing was still a thing she was often pushed around in her pram to visit neighbours laid on top of meat cuts and other.... not exactly legal food stuffs that wern't declared to the authorities.
Now that sort of problem solving to food shortages stayed with her throughout her life.

When she lost a filling from one of her teeth she was unable to get a dentist appointment for a week but the pain from her teeth was more than she could bear. So with that practical sense she had she went to the cupboard under the sink and pulled out the pollyfiller. (For those wondering what pollyfiller is it's a white powder you mix with water to fill holes in plaster walls before wallpapering.) Using a butter knife she proceded to fill the hole in her tooth and end the annoying pain from the tooth.
The following week she went to her dentist appointment and had to explain to a very shocked and bewildered dentist what she had done before he drilled out the pollyfiller so he could fix her filling.
