"Farming" literally means to cultivate. This FAQ is a detailed guide on how to
efficiently mass-produce badges without cheating. What's the point? The
ultimate goal is obtain three Sheriff Stars for every character. Of course, you
don't have to get 12 Sheriff Stars, but if you wanted to, this is how to do it.
There are a total of 60 badges in the game. The next section will list each
one in the following format:

Badges are ranked S, A, B, C, and D, with S being generally superior to D.
These are in-game rankings and do not reflect this author's opinion.
Stealing is available at level 24 for Jude via the Item Steal original command.
You can also invest GC points to gain access earlier. I'd recommend getting
this as soon as possible since many monsters have good stealable items very
early in the game.
The Battle Coliseum is available as soon as you reach Guara Bobelo, though I
wouldn't recommend you try any contests until much later in the game.
Basically, you pay an entrance fee to fight a fixed battle, and if you win,
you get a prize. If you lose, your entrance fee is wasted.
Combining is available in the Frontier Town Halim after completing the Valley
of Oblivion dungeon. Many new badges are available by combining older badges.
However, you still need to pay for the combining. This is the only way to
obtain some of the best badges in the game, including the Sheriff Star.
The Black Market is located in Guara Bobelo, but you must have the Black
Pass to enter. This can be found in Illsveil Prison, near the end of the game.
The price is stated in levels, since all black market goods are purchasable
by redeeming character levels. This is often the best way to farm badges.
To take advantage of the Black Market, here is my recommended strategy. Pawn
off all of Raquel and Yulie's levels at the Black Market, but keep Jude and
Arnaud as high as possible. Next, go to any 3 floor dungeon and walk around to
engage in random encounters. Make sure you have Speed Skates or a Sheriff Star
on Arnaud. Occasionally, you'll run into Grow Apples, or better yet, Super Grow
Apples. Arnaud should cast Shut Out, Slow Down, and Fragile on the monster's
hex, while Jude uses Item Steal and Mystic with Lucky Card. Next, Jude uses
Ley Boost on the wind hex (if available) while Arnaud casts Hyper on Jude's
hex. Finally, Jude uses Assault Buster. This combination can do max damage
(999,999), netting you almost 2 million experience for Yulie, Raquel, and
Arnaud and 3 million for Jude (or double that for a Super Grow Apple!). That's
an instant 60+ levels for the girls, or about 15 badges! I average about 2 of
these an hour, including the time it takes to run through Guara Bobelo. To
maximize your return on time, try fighting in Sea of Trees, in the hopes of
finding the ever elusive Jumbo Bearcat and his King's Crown.
Each character can equip up to 3 badges, gaining the second badge slot at level
45 and the final badge slot at level 95. You can also invest GC points to
gain access earlier, which I highly recommend.
Monster drops will not be listed in this FAQ since they are unreliable for
farming and too random to put together a definitive list.

Uses - The BEST badge in the game. If you have one, equip it! It has the
following effects:
- Grants immunity from Amnesia, Disease, Poison, Misery, Sleep, Confusion,
and Stone status as well as fatal attacks
- Reduces damage from all elemental attacks. Adds to Ley Point effects.
- Allows Attack/Shoot attacks to occasionally become Finest Arts.
- Increases the probability of obtaining a rare item during a battle.
- Prevents gella from being dropped when fleeing from battle.
- Increases MAX HP by 850.
- Increases MAX MP by 85.
- Restores MP each turn.
- Increases the probability of finding a treasure chest after battle.
- Increases counterattack strength based on the amount of HP lost.
- Reduces damage received and increases damage dealt.
- Fills the FP gauge to MAX if the character has the first turn in a
battle.
- Gives the character an RFX bonus when determining the initial battle
turn order.
- Doubles the HP recovery amount from items and skills.
- Restores HP each turn.
- Restores MP when hit by a magic attack.
- Reduces MP usage.
- Randomly guards against attacks.
- Increases EVA by 25 after moving between HEXes.
- Increases FP by 25 when the character falls into "Critical" status.
- Causes the character's first attack each battle to be a critical hit.
- Nullifies the first attack received each battle.
- Automatically revives the character once each battle.
- Adds an additional bonus to all EXP BONUS RATEs.
- Prevents reduction of MAX HP from "Fallen" status.
- Increases probability of critical hits.

Farming - Winning at the Battle Coliseum is the easiest way to farm this badge
for two reasons. First, Barbaroi Gobs are rare and don't always carry
this item for stealing. Second, one of the components used for
combining (Castle Wall) is also rare.
