Walking and knitting project 1
I find that hats are the easiest to knit while walking as they are small and my favorite pattern is knit in the round. I'll carry the ball in a small bag hung from my right wrist and walk laps on the indoor track at my gym.
Once you've got the first inch or so of the hat done and there are no color changes or complex patterns to deal with, knitting while walking is actually fairly easy. Keep a steady pace and an eye on the track for other walkers and the next thing you know a few miles are done and it is time to start decreasing for the top.
I've been working on clearing out some random balls of yarn from my stash and found this pretty purple wool hidden in the back of a drawer. Can't wait to see who gets it at an upcoming gift exchange!
I have never thought of walking while knitting or crocheting. That is such a neat idea. Getting projects done while getting good exercise, it’s a Win Win! Thank you for sharing this idea and how you accomplish it. I love the purple knitted hat!!
Glad to give you some ideas! Walking while knitting was a popular Victorian activity is my understanding. I enjoy it and hope you do as well! There is a competitive relay race at the state fair in Wisconsin I think. Racers are graded on speed, number of stitches, and docked points for errors.
