Owls ...
So, I made my first Handbag in like absolutely ages. I had some Vegetable tanned Leather, lovely and soft, about 1.8mls thick. First I make a pattern, I have found using a cereal box is best, nice stiff card. Then I cut it out and with an engraver I draw my design, whilst the leather is wet.
I do apologise for the fuzzy image, I did not have a good camera phone at the time. When it is totally dry, I punch all the holes, using a revolving punch.

I set about applying the colour, this time after i had put the bag together! My methods are somewhat unconventional. I use Leather paints, Fabric Paint (which I work with in a magical way for to set the colours) & Acrylics. I use brushes, natural sponge and my fingers to blend and apply.
I finished the bag, and along with Festival belts and other smaller bags & pouches I had been playing with and a piece of driftwood, I made a display in my lounge. Visitors are most plentiful, always ... so one day along comes Hagar for a visit and says to me ' I had a chat with your Owl Bag and he says he would like to come home with me!' HaHa! so now I have to come up with a price, never my strong point! So ... we had talks about the talks and Viola he went home with her and now he lives in Israel with her, very happily I am told.
