RE: Glock and 1911, My Conversion.

in #handgun7 years ago

I’ve never owned a Glock or a 1911 of any sort. I shoot a CZ P09 in IPSC Matches and whilst there are definite disadvantages between it and a CZ Shadow 2 for instance I seem to go ok in my class (Production). I want my guns to work no matter what and so lean towards guns that have a more field orientation. I’m not an operator of any sort, just a sport/fun shooter but imagine that when it’s on the line (lives) people like you want a gun that works, that is easily cared for and not fussy for lack of a better word. A popular gun that fails doesn’t seem as valuable as a less-popular one that does not.

In IPSC circles there’s many talkers (wankers) happy to poo poo other people’s equipment as inferior but for me I shoot what I can afford, what will require little or no maintenance and what is easily replaceable. I focus harder on acquiring skills in my shooting, movement, target acquisition, calling wind, trigger pull, breathing etc. (for pistol or rifle as necessary) than having the most expensive or popular equipment.

In PRSAus I shoot a RPR 6.5mm Creedmoor Rifle with Kahles 624i on top and Atlas bipod below. I get good results over $20,000 rifle systems due to all the other things combined, great stage planning and (probably) some luck.

Good post. Thanks.

AWESOME!! I have a RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor as well! Haven't got her all set up yet.

I’ve taken mine out to 1551m with multiple hits on a 1.5moa plate in 12mph full value wind. Love the caliber and for the money the rifle works well. I just built a 6mm on a CTR action too. Looking forward to load development on that one! Sounds like you have a lot of pew’s to play with. :)

My dad is working on some loads and we will have lots of video an articles on it hopefully. He has a Tikka Tac A1 in 6.5.

I was shooting one of them last week. Nice rifle, finished better than the RPR and with a more comfortable grip. Will be interested to see what load your dad comes up with for the RPR. I use the Sierra 142gr HPBT with AR2209 (43.4gr) in Hornady brass and Federal primer. I'm getting 2845fps in MV. No pressure signs despite it being well over the ADI recommended maximum load.
