Jimmy Smith- Hammond Organ Jazz King
OK for all you young folks. Jimmy Smith was known as the the King of the Hammond Organ. Born out of gospel he delivered jazz on the B-3 organ. Timeless music. I have a B-3 that my dad bought me when I was 16. Now 63 , the Hammond organ is still kicking. Hammond went out of business because they made a product that will last a lifetime. The organ speaker was known as a Leslie named after it's inventor. Designed to sound like a church pipe organ it was named the "pipe voice of the Hammond organ". Today all the rock bands have an organ sound modeled after this organ. Too cool.
Yeah, Catdaddy, thems some cool swings!
