Everybody who really knows me that I'm a visual guy.
I mean, I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket to save my life; but, I could light your latest bowel movement and make it a work of art.
The thing is, my current job does occasionally require me to help with the sound guys. I'll get done with all of my lighting junk, and the sound people will still be figuring stuff out.
Everybody who really knows me also knows that I'm a Shakespeare nerd.
So, we had one of the best sound technicians on my gig today. He asked me to test the mics.
I started with the standard, "Check check. Mic check one two one two. Check check." and he asked me to keep talking.
At that point I just started reciting the Act 2 Scene 2 soliloquy from Hamlet.
I got to the, "What an ass am I?" line and stopped.
I asked, "Are we good?"
The sound engineer said, "We're good. I was just caught up in the story."
"Should I finish?"
"Yeah"
--several lines--
"The play's the thing."
Sometimes my job is really fun.
