寝て起て大欠して猫の恋
nete okite oakubi shite neko no koi


sleeping then waking
then a big yawn
the cat goes out in search of love

It may come as no surprised that Issa was a cat lover. Now, of course, he was an animal and insect lover, as you know if you've been following along. But among all his haiku, he wrote over a hundred haiku on cats, many of them on cat courting habits, such as the one above. I'd say that equals cat lover.

Almost the time for cats to go wild haha. That picture is cool, it's either stretching or being mad!

haha isn't that how it always is with cats? Either they are relaxed and cool, or they are scratching your eyes out.

I love the description of the waking. Through your blog I’m really coming to appreciate haiku for their brevity in the way I’ve come to love the 50 word short stories.

I'm glad to hear that. That is how I came to love haiku. They paint a better picture in just a few words than much more wordy writing.
