Offer Observation: The Offer I Can Refuse
Called up the Gym to cancel my membership.
Staff: "Hello, this is Fitness First, how can I help you?"
Me: "Hi, I'd just like to cancel my membership please."
Staff: "No problem, let me transfer you to the right department"
Transfers me to the member retention department
Staff: "Good morning Sir, I heard you are wanting to end your membership with us?"
Me: "Yes, I've just gotten too busy these days."
Staff: "No worries, I see here that you currently have unlimited access and have been coming to the gym 3 to 4 times a week?"
Me: "Yep, I do enjoy it. It's just that I'm really tight on time these days"
Staff: "Ok, Why don’t I make you a really awesome offer? I'll lower your membership fee by 50%!"
Me: "50%? That’s really is an awesome deal"
Staff: "Yea, so you will pay 50% less fees and still get to come to the gym once a week."
Me: "Sorry, once a week?"
Staff: "Yea, you have no time right? So with this offer you can just come once a week and pay only half your original fee."
I paused a bit...
Me: "Thanks for the offer, but I think I will just go ahead and cancel my membership thanks."
That's not cool... why would he even offer that just for 1 day a week... i dont blame you for declining it
That's not an awesome offer, really.
