No, guns do not cause violence.

Could you imagine if the mainstream media made false extrapolations about any other thing? Like blaming all car owners for drunk-driver accidents. Or blaming all Asians for one Asian man murdering? Or blaming all children because one child ate a tide pod?

This is the insanity we face when the media lacks philosophy, ethics, and principles.

There's one saying in my country:
"Guns don't kill people, idiots with guns do."

Am I against guns? Yes.

But, more than that, I'm against letting anyone to buy it at any time.
If you look at last few shootings in US schools (by teenagers), you will see that all of them were troubled guys, some of them even had troubles with law not just their personality. Some of them had a record of shooting cats and dogs, mental illnesses, depression, and so on.

Why is it easy for them to buy a gun?

In my country, if you want to buy a gun police has to issue a permission, psychologist too. If you have any mental illness, or troubled behavior, no guns for you...at all.

You are totally entitled to your opinion and that is fine, but there are a few issues with what you are saying.

  1. Saying you are against guns is like saying you are against screw drivers or hammers. Can screw drivers and hammers be used to hurt someone? Sure... but so can literally anything else, like of a rock, piece of glass, your own fists, etc.

  2. Making laws against guns does absolutely nothing but punish law abiding gun owners. (Because criminals don't care about laws and are going to do it anyways)... so all you have done is take guns away from people who are lawful and responsible and left them in the hands of the state and criminals.

  3. If you are not a slave and you own yourself, then no one has the right to tell you what you can or can't have/use to defend yourself (regardless of what someone writes on a piece of paper calling it law says). Every being on this planet has a right to self defense in any way that they deem necessary.

  4. What defines mental illness? If you told your Dr. that you were depressed 10 years ago, does that automatically ban you from owning a firearm? It is a complete slippery slope. Even those with "mental health" issues have a right to self defense, as long as they are not threatening or hurting someone.

  5. You can't legislate stupid. Stupid people are going to do stupid things. "laws" cannot prevent crime. The best you can do is have guns in the hands of responsible people that can act when needed and not have to wait until the shooter runs out of bullets or until the police decide to show up (which by the way have no duty to protect you).

  6. Natural Law is the highest Law, anything else is secondary and only applies to corporate fictions. I highly suggest you research that.

Again, if you like living that way and in your country, more power to you. But I will never let someone take away my right to self defense. I hope you can understand where I am coming from.
