Don't Trust Names

A Name Isn't Everything

Most often old companies couldn't be further from the original. Do not support a name instead of the facts.

Colt:

has filed for bankruptcy multiple times and has restructured many times. Currently it is owned by Zilkha & Co, a manufacturing conglomerate. They are currently in bankruptcy as well.

Auto Ordinance:

hasn't been the original producer of the Thompson since 1950. That iteration of Auto Ordinance was owned by the Numrich Arms Company from the beginning. It was bought by the parent company of Kahr Arms in 1999.

Springfield Armory:

The original Springfield, ordered by George Washington, was a government installment that was shuttered in 1968. LH manufacturing began branding their products under the same name soon after. LH then sold the rights to the current company in 1974.

Remember: names are forever, quality is not.

It is also worth noting that even historical American brands are not necessarily made where they used to be. For example, my Winchester SXP pump is a rebranded Turkish 12 gauge. Taurus is not necessarily made in Brazil and a bunch of others. The Remington side by side 12 gauge is made in Russian (a Bakial I think)

As always keep yer booger hook off the bangswitch unless sending rounds down range.

very true. Our community can easily be fooled by the name. I mean Ruger and Remington used to be sweet. Not so much any more
