Violent crime rates have plummeted as first-person shooter video games have become more common and realistic (as you noted), and as states have relaxed restrictions on carrying weapons. The false prophets loudly said the opposite, but they have not been discredited. Instead of acknowledging that crime did not spike after the repeal of Clinton's so-called "Assault Weapon Ban," they say we need a new ban just like it, except more draconian. The authoritarian is not interested in truth. His opinion must be imposed. At gunpoint. Because guns are bad.
