Gun control anyone? Have you heard of Leland Yee? Be sure to always read the disclaimer. . .advocates for disarming you may be working behind the scenes to provide criminals with more weapons. Proceed at Your Own Risk!
It is fascinating and somewhat predictable that when a leftist hero straight from the Democratic party is exposed for corruption, MSM does their very best to bury the story. Many have not figured out that "the powers that be" on both sides of the political spectrum play them against one another! That being said, it is also clear MSM is left leaning (case in point the burying of Hillary's crimes during the primaries, but always putting Trump in a negative light); therefore, if ex Senator Leland Yee would have been a Republican rather than a Democrat who was found to be so blatantly hypocritical, the left would NEVER stop talking about it. They would persecute, bury, defame, all while pretending to be objective.
Let's take the case of Leeland Yee, a former Senator for California's 8th district. He was the Democrats poster model for strict gun control laws. He was respected, revered and heralded as a Stalwart for California's goal of disarming it's citizenry. He was even named to the Brady Campaign’s Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll. Clearly, Yee had no issues with keeping the criminals armed as he took part in a gun trafficking scheme. He kept making it clear in his dealings, he didn't want the bribes to be linked to specific legislation; and therefore, exposed as "pay to play!" Somewhat of a dichotomy as Yee had also pushed for greater transparency in government. Reminds me of yet another DNC hero, Hillary Clinton. She pushed for transparency, yet demonstrated a constant trail of "missing" evidence, destroyed devices, nay even boldly took a hammer to some and bleach bit them!
Here is a photo of Leland Yee with Governor Jerry Brown, whom Leland was happy to endorse!
Yee was once elected to the San Francisco School Board. He then went on to sit on the city’s Board of Supervisors and in the state Assembly. The latter role saw him become the first Asian American speaker pro tem in 2004, making him the second-highest ranking Democrat in the California assembly at the time.
People state, they often wondered how he was able to afford luxury housing and amenities on a "said to be" . modest salary, but to be fair we wonder this about many of these people in Government! If they made their own way fair enough, and well done! Many have extreme wealth profiting and benefiting off of the American people. They are the very elitist the pretend to want to protect us from!
According to the Washington Post, From 2006 onwards, Yee served as a state senator and was plotting a secretary of state campaign when his political visions were curtailed by a federal indictment in March 2014.
Prior to his illegal actions being uncovered, Yee had introduced legislation banning 3D printed weapons and detachable magazine conversion kits, aiming to tighten some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation.
Yee told CBS two years before he was arrested: “It is extremely important that individuals in the state of California do not own assault weapons. I mean that is just so crystal clear — there is no debate, no discussion.”
Yee and Sen. Dianne Feinstein made attempts to have the bullet button outlawed on the heels of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, even though the rifles used in the terrorist attack had their bullet buttons illegally removed. In an interview on KPIX 5, Yee actually said, "he was not going to be intimidated, because he believed so strongly in keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys. “This is not an easy issue,” Yee said. “But I am a father, and I want our communities to be safe, and god forbid if one of these weapons fell into the wrong hands.”
His convictions he claimed to hold were in clear opposition to what he was doing behind the scenes. Yee was charged with conspiracy to deal firearms without a license, along with conspiracy to illegally transport firearms. He is also accused of running a scheme to defraud citizens on his services and wire fraud.
In a 31-page indictment that sharpens but does not materially change the allegations against Yee, he is charged with six counts of corruption and one count of conspiracy to traffic in firearms.
The government’s affidavit said that in August of 2013, at the same time Yee was pushing gun control laws, an undercover agent was being told the senator “had a contact who deals in arms trafficking.” In January of 2014 the affidavit stated, Yee told that same agent that the arms dealer “Has things that you guys want.”
Also stated in the same affidavit was the fact, Yee claimed to know a weapons trafficker who he had known for years, who was supplying “cargo containers” of heavy weapons to Muslim rebels in the Philippines.
According to other sources, Former employees at Asian Americans for Community Involvement, for which Yee was an administrator, told SF Weekly that he once used a bottle of Wite-Out to revise the medical records of the nonprofit’s beneficiaries to make their conditions seem more severe.
Rose Pak, a “Chinatown powerbroker,” told the Guardian that Yee had “no moral character.” She rattled off a list of her (unconfirmed) suspicions — “How did the guy manage to buy a million-dollar house on a $30,000 City Hall salary?” — but the gist was clear: Pak didn’t trust him.
He was never someone who could be trusted, they say. The signs of corruption have been there all along, and whispers about his beguiling character were part of why he came fifth in the 2011 mayoral election.
Court records show that Yee agreed to perform certain official acts in exchange for mayoral campaign and later secretary of state campaign donations. He obliged one undercover agent who wanted him to make a call to the California Department of Public Health on behalf of an invented contract, as well as another who asked him to take a particular stance on medical marijuana legislation.
Yee also discussed buying weapons overseas and bringing them to the U.S. with two associates and an undercover agent. He accepted $6,800 and a list of arms for purchase in the Philippines.
In 2016 after denying culpability, he pleaded guilty to the charges for accepting bribes and trafficking in fire arms. His sentence was 5 years. Curious, does that same like a fair consequence for someone who knowingly lied and deceived his constituents, while blatantly taking advantage of their tax payer dollars? It should also be noted that Jackson, a former school board president who helped Yee facilitate the bribes, received a nine-year sentence.
It is difficult to understand why someone would choose a life of corruption while pretending to be an upright, heroic civic leader. “My parents didn’t encourage me to go into politics at all,” he told Hyphen magazine in 2011. “There was a stereotype in the Chinese community that sees politics with suspicion. Politicians aren’t honorable, they’re corrupt and unsavory.”
It is also interesting to note he attended UC Berkley, San Francisco State University and the University of Hawaii. For all this education, it didn't seem to help his moral compass as he lived a life in complete opposition to what he claimed to believe! Gun control anyone?
