Pintrest and imgur and pixabay and postimage and imgbb all have "forum integration".
You could upload your photos or drawings or paintings to one of these and then simply post a link on steem and your front-end (steempeak or steemit or busy.org) could display the image on your blog so it would look exactly like it does today.
Well, not quite. Pixabay has an approval system. Which is not completely democratic. You can tell by what images are approved, when. And no, they don't allow linking. You are supposed to download, host the image and link from your hosting source. I have never hosted my images direct from pixabay, ever. Violation of terms.
I don't use pinterest, imgur, postimage, imgbb, so I am not familiar with how they do things. I believe pinterest blocks outgoing links and redirects to a sign up page.
But yeah sure, probably some places that will host for free out there. I am guessing so.
