Being grateful...
My school gave us (students) about 4 months to spend at home (not strike, protest or anything, just vacation) and in that I met this woman.
Being a law student, it's an added advantage if you take up internship placements at Law firms, for the sake of experience and not being idle.
Her firm is the first firm I interned in without having connect of any sort.
Whilst I was being interviewed she asked me if I wanted remuneration and giving her the answer that'll make her take me, I said I did not plan for it. However, at the end of my first week, she said she was gonna pay me for my stay there and I wondered where all these came from.
During my stay there, she opened up to me and told me that she didn't want to grant me the placement because she lost her only brother, who apparently was my namesake.
Her first step to emotional recovery was granting me the placement.
As my internship continued, I learnt a lot from the woman and we became very good friends.
As I was giving my mum the gist as it was happening, she asked if I knew the woman before and I said no.
Till date I am very grateful for the experience because it strengthened my faith in God and in people as there are still some good people on this earth.
I know we should not wait for people to cajole us to so things like this, but this is an awesome platform to do such.
