We have often heard that attitude is everything and what our attitude is; will be reflected in our life style in one manner or the other. We can be sure that it is true that attitude can and does affect life style choices if we watch other people closely. It can also be said that each person chooses the life they want to live by the choices they make and yes; their attitude toward life affects their life style choices. It can be concluded that we each make a decision to be happy, or sad. We choose to educate ourselves so that our life style can flourish or we tend to accept just being mediocre is okay. Our attitude and choices produce the results of our life style. We choose to become something of value to mankind or we choose to feel sorry for ourselves and become complacent in life. It is all about our attitude.

   ATTITUDE AFFECTS LIFE CHOICES

Not anyone or any circumstance can determine your life style unless you allow it. Our own attitude can affect our life style choices in a negative way when we feel sorry for ourselves instead of realizing that we have to change to have our own destiny. Our reflections are our reflections. Another person’s reflections cannot make our destiny unproductive. Regardless of the influences which surrounds us, it is still our choice to change or to follow; it is not our destiny to live in a disadvantaged state of existence. It is our life style choice when we let the wrong attitude become complacent.
As we get into this just a little further to reflect on some of the ways in which our attitude brings about favorable or unfavorable life choices; we must certainly reflect on our mental thoughts. When we constantly have negative thoughts, those thoughts will become what we think if we dwell on them. It is not uncommon for most of us to have thoughts that are not healthy at some points in life, but when we have positive thoughts and a positive attitude toward life; it can amazingly contribute to our good fortune. After all; the good things in life is what we should be seeking and believing in. If we let our thoughts keep us from seeking those things which are good; we will develop a life style contrary to what is good.
As we reflect; we know that life can never be perfect for anyone. What is important is that we never stop believing in ourselves and develop an attitude toward life things that are positive; regardless of the outcome of certain things. We have trials, errors, roadblocks, and interferences even when things turn out positive or good sometimes. There are times when we are baffled and discouraged. This is life, but we should never let the roadblocks cut us off from trying, and we should never let what someone else does captivate us. We have our own life to live and we must find our own success.

Here are five strategies from my attitude tool kit to improve your attitude:

  1. Connecting to Your Spiritual Empowerment
The ultimate level of human need extends into the spiritual realm. Just as we feed our bodies in response to our primary need to survive physically, we need to feed our spirit because we are spiritual beings. Many people find powerful and positive motivation in their faith. I happen to be one of them.

  2. The Power of Visualization
Studies of the psychology of peak performance have found that most great athletes, surgeons, engineers and artists use affirmations and visualizations either consciously or subconsciously to enhance and focus their skills. Nelson Mandela has written extensively on how visualization helped him maintain a positive attitude while being imprisoned for 27 years. “I thought continually of the day when I would walk free. I fantasized about what I would like to do,” he wrote in his autobiography. Visualization works well to improve attitude.

  3. Self-Motivation Through Discovering Your Motives
Discover what motivates you—what incites you to take action to change your life . Basic motives include love, self-preservation, anger, financial gain and fear. Self-motivation requires enthusiasm, a positive outlook, a positive physiology (walk faster, smile, sit up), and a belief in yourself and your God-given potential.

  4. Self-Coaching Through Affirmations
Affirmations repeated several times each day, every day, serve to reprogram your subconscious with positive thinking. An affirmation is made up of words charged with power, conviction and faith. You send a positive response to your subconscious, which accepts whatever you tell it. When done properly, this triggers positive feelings that, in turn, drive action.

  5. Lighten Up Your Life with Humor
Humor is a powerful motivator. The more humor and laughter in your life, the less stress you’ll have, which means more positive energy to help you put your attitude into action. There are also health benefits to lightening up.

“ Some people are like a thermometer. If their environment is negative, they are negative. If bad things happen, they are sad. If good things happen, they are happy. They are simply a product of their environment. Successful people, on the other hand, are more like a thermostat. Even if their environment is negative, they choose to be positive.

Its often said, that our attitude determines our altitute, this quote can never be over emphasised cos like you rightly pointed out, attitude is everything. As a student of psychology myself, i say that you did justice to the topic; in life, we can choose to see the thorns or the Rose.

I love your piece @mykel412, I really love the 5 attitude kits you put there. At some point in my life, I was just like the thermometer that adjust helplessly but when I understood the negative effect it was causing me I had to change.
