STEEMIT IN NIGERIA (SIN) EVENT (THE DONATION PLEA)

in #growth-project7 years ago (edited)

This is a contributory post towards the success of the Steemit In Nigeria (SIN) event which will be coming up in November

How can you deter incessant criminals from their immoral path? I'm sure there are several answers for that and some people would even recommend the use of violent methods to curb issues of crime in our society today. Throughout the ages, people have resorted to committing crimes to sustain themselves, when there is no other way of surviving.

A study carried out in Liberia showed that when it comes to criminal activities people engage in to meet end's needs, the provision of job opportunities can significantly reduce the instances of criminal acts . As the saying goes, "An idle mind is the devil's workshop". Therefore, if you take take away idleness from a mind, you're kicking the devil out of business.

SOURCE

I don't know about you but the Steemit platform has been a blessing to me. It has helped me with some money I'm in dire need of. Without Steemit, I wonder what I would have done. Wouldn't it be nice if other people got a chance at this amazing platform also? It would help in reducing the rate of poverty and crime around the world.

Statistics show that about 92 million Nigerians make use of the internet regularly and the majority of this people spend their data on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp and various other social media pages. The amount of data spent on porn sites is also quite phenomenal. Imagine what the influx of this people would do to the Steemit network and even the value of the Steem.

Imagine spending seven years in school for a four years course, as a result of incessant strikes. And the after graduation, when you apply for interviews, you are told that the company requires a person who is not more than twenty five years old and has a working experience of at least ten years. What age did they even expect you to graduate?

According to the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigeria currently ranks as third globally in the case of cyber crimes, coming up behind the U.S and the U.K. The lack of employment opportunities and the need to sustain themselves is what has pushed most people into cyber crime. The availability of a means of making money will deter a huge amount of individuals from criminal activities, while boosting the Steemit network.

This is what has spawned the idea of the STEEMIT IN NIGERIA (SIN) project. According to this post;

Steemit In Nigeria is a Nigerian event aimed at creating mass awareness about the steem/steemit possibility

Also borrowing this piece from @ehiboss's post,the desired outcome is for Nigeria and the Nigerian market to be a key player in the development of steem and steemit. To have at least 400-500 new registrations in the first few hours of the event and 1,000-2,000 in one week of the programme. By the end of January, to boast of 100,000-250,000 new Nigerians as a result of the Steemit In Nigeria conferance and party. The target is 1 million new registrations before the end of 2018.

LOCATION

In a bid to get across to a large audience, Ile ife, Osun state, Nigeria has been selected as the venue of the event. With a large amount of tertiary institutions, some of which include Obafemi Awolowo University, Oduduwa University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Osun State University, Osun State Polytechnic, The Federal Polytechnic, Ede, etc, this location is expected to fetch a large audience and enable us in getting a large numer of registrations on Steemit, in a single day. It is expected that this new guys can in bring others into the network when they see the good it has to offer.
