Mission:
The idea is to create a censor resistant decentralized micro-blogging application that sits on top of the Steem Blockchain.
What is the problem?
Short form micro-blogging is still a necessary format in the SteemIt ecosystem. We have the long-tail with the main SteemIt platform , but short-form is under served and the platform in it’s current form doesn’t accommodate this need well.
What is the solution?
Nate Brune had envisioned a version of Twitter on SteemIt originally called Squeak. We’ve decided to expand on this vision with some better functions and features. For example, as we mentioned in the SteemPoll, we are interested in creating a way where people can hit a promotion button randomly and it would send $45 dollars to some lucky user on the new platform. There is a need to bring real value to SteemIt.
How will you prove your project was a success?
Data can be leveraged to show success. Using the blockchain you’ll be able to mine out interesting tidbits of information to the public for transparency. User retention, the # of ( squeaks ), and sign up’s. This will be all visible and available through json data. The app data will show the the success of the project.

We’ll be doing a complete re-branding overhaul of this project from From Squeak to new name soon. There will be other additional changes done. For the moment, enjoy some of the future goals upon launch!

How does that bring real value to steemit??
Well this brings value to the blockchain by keeping users active on the site. So instead of just burning the promotion it would be sent randomly to active users.
The method of how it will work is still being developed. But basically the model is use the advertising funds to reward the users along with the normal post earnings. Usually the big bois just take the ad revenue for them self.
Why not just allow simple upvoting, but with 1/10th or 1/100th the value an upvote would normally get? That would allow users to upvote frequently on that part of the platform without worrying about eventual upvotes becoming worthless. Maybe allow an additional method to "super-upvote" on a micropost that really stands out.
Randomly awarding $45 sounds like a great way to promote people just spamming the heck out of things...
There is a plan to have a vote bar to let users choose other then that i don't think we should be messing with it. But then again anything is possible and for the reward there would need to be certain requirements like active with in so long yada yada yada.
I don't even know how the promote button is used to interact with the blockchain! Personally it's difficult to dig into the dev stuff at the moment when things are changing often, although it'll help to have some formalised, getting-started with development for noobs.
Its more or less a front end feature that is pretty easy to control. When someone go's to promote a post it would send to users the method is currently being worked on and refined. But for sure those funds should not be wasted and i think 100% of the advertising should be used on rewards for the users and not used for the sites benefit. If i want funds ill just take a % cut from posts which is pretty easy to do with since hf 18.
How would you get random users, where you will get $45 dollar?
Also promoting post means burning fund which means decrease supply (increase value). So if you want to get attention of community you would buy to burn, which returns value back to users.
Promotion is supported at blockchain level, btw!
Yeah were currently playing with some ideas right now on how to handle promotion. And a way to keep users around while rewarding them from more then just post. This is the fun part of development aye!
I think it's a good idea. It might be better to convert SBD to Steem before sending so you basically still reduce the outstanding steem dollar debt and reward someone - a win:win situation as I see it.
Yep this is how i was seeing it as well but burns take what 3 days or so. Still being figured out tho.
Yes this projects will launch with apps. A few have been asking offsite so i thought i would address this question for anyone who was wondering.

I think nate is currently busy with other things right now but ive had talks with him already about that subject. It could go either way but more or less i think he is just happy the idea is moving forward.
As for betas and such still in heavy development, react native for ios, android, and react native web. Im currently doing all this on my own.

Because i'm working with react native anywhere so if i want to have apps for windows, hololens, not sure ill ever need to make those but ehh never know.
I don't have an opinion on how it will actually function, but a micro-blogging service is desperately needed here. As I look for real content it is overwhelmed by one liners.

I like the idea of a microblog sitting on the Steem blockchain and interacting with the Steemit blogs.
Not sure about the $45 promotion aspect. The value of this tool should be able to stand on its own.
