Deep curation...we need super curators and they need power

Given the explosive growth in accounts, posting and commenting, we need high quality, deep curation more than ever. Deep curation is an important part of what ensures the daily reward pool is allocated as fairly as possible and in a way that continues to incentivise the growth in production of quality material. New Steemians must accept that there may be a lag where they are producing quality material that doesn't not get the notice and reward it deserves but it benefits all Steemians if we ensure that as many quity posts and Steemians are recognised as soon as possible. Steem is valuable for many reasons already but the greater the network, the greater the value because the network effect compounds the value.

Deep curation is a highly specialised skill and there are only so many Steemians who have the temperament, patience, fortitude , dedication, attention to detail, experience, knowledge and time to do the job. When Steemit has millions of accounts and millions of posts to deal with per day, we will need an army of talented super curators.

How can we incentivise the deep curators who need to vote and be rewarded more times a day but without endangering the system by enabling everyone to do the same?

Solution - special roles and delegated Steem power with reward splitting

I don't know if this is technically supported within the software right now but we could have special roles.

If you have the skill and reputation to be a super curator, you are able to vote many more times a day than all other Steemians with you power being damaged at a lower rate. In effect all Steemians would be agreeing that certain Steemians have the power to allocate more of the reward pool than the rest of us and can make additional curation rewards for their efforts. Remember, this is a difficult job that increase the value of Steem for everyone.

Where does the Steem power come from? I think the power should come only from the Steemit account via delegation and the reward split toggles to a community agreed level.

The excess which would return to the Steemit account can then be spent...as it is widely purported to be being spent....on growing Steem for everyone.

Voting guilds have tried to do a similar job with great success at times but there have been difficulties that prevent them from scaling up.

There may well be other special roles that we want to create in the future.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Other Steemians have been posting about this topic, please take the time to have a look at a post by @liberosist too;

This is what the @steemstem account strives to do for STEM content. Hopefully we can convince some people to delegate some power to it to better enable the projects curation activity.

If the steem power is coming from the steemit account, power won't be the issue and all curators, no matter their specialty will be catered for equally. The efforts to support curators and the discovery of quality has been really amazing so far and we wouldn't be where we are today without those incredible efforts.

oh interesting, did not know about that.

What are the requirements?

...i thought i mentioned them, patience, fortitude, dedication, attention to detail....etc. :) Or am I misunderstanding the question?

Got it!

Should a new or fresh steemit account be created for this position?

At this point it would be important to know the individual and have some evidence of prior activity within steemit so existing accounts with a high enough reputation.

(hands in my steemit resume for consideration)

I think steemdb might be more revealing when it comes down to it!

I think it should come from Steemit Vault,if there is one!

There sure is, its the 'steemit' account. They could also amalgamate the scattered dormant accounts into the steemit account to boost it's power but I doubt that would be necessary. I think a valid approach to the dormant accounts would be to burn them all.

Burn them all😮?....you know some people runs like 3 to 5 accounts you know?

Only the ones controlled by Steemit :)

Speaking of dormant accounts.....if one may add a personal note to the dialogue....there is an account named @bluejay.....that is dormant which is the recipient of money transfers from time to time that were meant for @bleujay. Do you know how one is to go about obtaining the funds or a better solution the account itself.

Additional note......The @bluejay account has never been used.

Thank you for your time. Regards, @bleujay.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having multiple accounts...my apologies for the mixup, I should have been clearer. I'm referring only to those dormant accounts controlled by Steemit.

Thank you for your reply.

I see......no this is not a multiple account topic....this is an account that is dormant.....not mine....but receives funds accidentally/by mistake that are meant for me as the name is similar.

Do you have any thoughts about how one can go about resolving thsi problem.

Of course I see what you mean now. The only thing I can think of would be for Steemit.inc to deploy an additional unique identifier, one set by the user (you) like a nickname so that anyone transferring to you had another fast visual way to make sure they had the right account. Or perhaps a system identifier like bitshares had....a unique robot image!

Thank you for your reply @benjojo.

Yes.....that is a lovely idea. Appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you for posting @benjojo.

Appreciate you bringing to the table these thoughts for our consideration.

Sounds interesting. Curating is one of the more intricate of the working parts of Steemit.

All the best to you and yours.

Thanks very much bud, my pleasure. It's a really really important issue that we need to address asap.

Excellent post! I like your work My friend

I agree, sections like gaming need curators to showcase high quality content. Folks coming in to the site for the first time need a great impression of what kind of community is around.

Looks like we have a lot of work to do fellow Steemians!!!

happy to be a curator, i'm doing my best to be split 50% comments and 50% posts, you can see from my steem.supply for my username.
