Growth idea - An Upvote Financed Game Section or Site
It’s more of an expansion on ideas previously expressed by both @whatageek and @triverse I think (sorry I couldn’t find the posts). Forgive me if my contribution has already been suggested or if it violates some rule I’m not aware of.
The Idea
There should be a site, mobile app or a section of the Steemit site with a bunch of games that reward players with some quantity of steem. That idea’s not new but I’d like to suggest that the games’ rewards can be financed through upvotes from the players themselves as well as direct steem payments. By allowing players to ‘pay’ with upvotes, it makes it simple for anyone with voting power to get involved and possibly earn more steem. The donated upvotes would be applied to leaderboard posts which would appear on Steemit at regular intervals.
The Games
I know absolutely nothing about licensing games however, most casual games should be easy to clone (as has been mentioned). How about Steemy Birds? Steemtris? Pac-Steem? SteemCrush/Crushit? I’ve seen a lot of creativity here, we could host a contest to create the next completely new, addictive game and add all the promising ones too.
The 'Problem'
The first few levels can be completely free and after a certain point players can be prompted to donate an upvote if they’d like to start earning Steem for their progress. Clearly, some upvotes are worth more than others and initially, the payments would be minuscule. I’m not sure what can be done about that yet but I’d rather express this idea in its imperfect state than wait until it’s fully refined but irrelevant.
Conclusion
It’s been stated before but it bears repeating: not everyone is a blogger and not everyone wants to read blogs regularly. As awesome as our content is, there are people who just won’t be into it. Games can reach some of them and if enough people start playing the rewards could be worth it. It’s worth some thought.

Interesting idea, something I haven't even though about at all; How to integrate games and Steem votes. If well implemented, this could be another huge ecosystem in itself!
That's what I thought but I wasn't sure if it only seemed impressive to me because I don't know enough about what it would involve. But I think large numbers of people could be convinced to get involved with Steem through games.
Well, it could require a lot of work. But this would be like hitting two flies with one stone for me so I'll look if it would be doable by novice developer like me. I'll keep you updated if there's anything worth mentioning. Meanwhile feel free to market this idea, it's a good one.
I'd like to get this idea in the right hands but I don't know how to begin marketing it.
There's so much to be build and so little time and only so much developers. Most of them are building their own little things already.
I can't expect someone to drop a project they love to work on this but I haven't given up yet. Agar.io may be my new favourite way to waste time btw.
Now imagine that game with some money in the line. I don't know if my heart could take it.
I'd need to win big because there'd no longer be time for productive work in my life :D
I tend to agree with you, actually your idea is good however it will give advantage to the powerful people here on Steemit!
I was wondering how to get around the power imbalance too but I hope someone can figure out how to get around that. I guess it's still a piece of a growth idea and the rest will come from others lol
