Humans are...well...humans. It may well be true. It may not be. I don't think it invalidates everything else they've done. Perhaps knowing their flaws even drove them to try harder to be better people...even as they failed miserably... If it is true, they need serious counselings. I don't know if they'll get that where they're going. Hopefully the kid winds up alright, wherever they end up.

I don't even really know how to respond to something like this. I just keep thinking about how fucked up all of society is. How fucked up people are, by our own standards. How maybe this whole family structure we've adopted is perhaps wrong. How maybe if there were more people around in the kids life, maybe the situation would have never happened. How maybe if there was more mental help and counselling fundamentally ingrained in society, maybe they'd just be going to counselling to deal with their problems, if it's true of course, and this would never have happened. But society's not even really set up to deal with the realities of life.
