Gridcoinstats.eu

Gridcoinstats is the newest network explorer of the Gridcoin Network. With frequent updates and support from the community we create an advanced webpage for all purposes.

Among other things, here are a few of the updates made today:

  • Voting; All Polls ever created are now listed with details of votes and results.
  • Much nicer Block and Transactions View.
  • More details of projects and team users
  • Transactions for CPID and Addresses are now by default collapsed per day, for much better view
  • Unconfirmed Transactions are now visible on the right column, before they enter any blocks.
  • And a much improved layout of the page and tables, with sorting of some of the tables.

Next year will bring more updates. Many are already in planning, but if you think there is something specific missing just give me a shout here or in a private message on our forum.

Thanks for the hard work. It helps to give insights into Gridcoin and its support in the community.

ColdMonkey mines Gridcoin through generating BOINC computations for science...

Amazing work @sc-steemit!

Perhaps it would be possible to integrate a new Gridcoin faucet on gridcoinstats.eu? As far as I know, the only faucet we currently have is http://faucet.gridcoin.asia and it looks kinda shady with so many ads.

I would personally vote to supply such a new, clean faucet on gridcoinstats.eu with, I don't know, 50 000 GRC from the Foundation, to give it a good start and to make it reliable.

This is actually one of the ideas that has crossed my mind. Since the page can track CPIDs I can safely build a faucet with a daily payout to any address to a CPID that has sent a beacon to the network. Something like giving a higher value to a new user that hasn't claimed anything before.

That's an interesting idea too, but I was thinking more along the lines of a "classical faucet" i.e. enter your address and get 1 GRC every 12 hours or so (useful for complete newbies who haven't sent a beacon yet and are in need of their first GRC).

Once the user has sent a beacon, he is almost all set up. We can provide such users with an extra payment too, because that's a common gripe ("I've done everything and running BOINC, but no payments yet, what's wrong"). However that would be more expensive, I guess we would have to send at least 10 GRC to make it noticeable enough. But I would support it, first payment is very important for newbies and I am sure many give up because they don't receive it soon enough (instant gratification being the common norm today).

Of course are the very first few coins important to new users. Something like that would be very useful as well. I'm all for running a faucet, and I can probably just make the backend for it myself. We just need to find a good way of setting the amount you can get.

I think in the lines of:

  • Anyone with a CPID that hasn't claimed their starter coins before can claim x coins once. I would say 10-20 GRC here.
  • Anyone can claim x coins every y hours. Maybe 1 GRC per 12-24 hours?
  • If you have a CPID attached to the claiming address you get a bonus of x amounts of coins because you contribute to the network and we can be sure you aren't cheating. I would say up to 2 coins extra per claim. That would be 200% more per day :)

This would not be to difficult. Having a good captcha to sort out most of the cheaters and making a payout script for payments every 24 hour.

Sounds great! Do you think the system should automatically send the 'researcher's bounty' of 20 GRC to the new user as soon as the new address+CPID shows up in the network? Or the user should go to gridcoinstats.eu and claim it from the faucet personally?

Second approach would give more publicity to your fine website and that's great, but some newbies would probably assume that's the way Gridcoin normally works (i.e. 'I have to run BOINC and go to gridcoinstats to claim some GRC from time to time').

Either way, I am sure the community would support this, since it's a big improvement over 'uscore promo GRC' program (which also gathered decent support).

Off course its a possible way to do it. I could make it that way. I would get less exposure, but since it would be foundation money I can't be against that idea :) It would be a service for the community.

I could start looking on this in January and probably get something fixed up in the coming months.
It's up and running already :)

For now it's not automatically sending to new addresses on the network. I think we should have them claiming it for them selves. This is to eliminate the risk of sending coins to people that hasn't committed to the network and given up or abandoned the wallet for some reason.

I concur with the idea of trying to establish some kind of new faucet for Gridcoin. Though one of the sticking points for newbies is getting a beacon out to begin with. The need to get some coins to initiate a beacon troubles some people, people can be reluctant to request a starting stake on CryptoCoinTalk.com. And even more reluctant to buy an initial stake from an exchange.

Awesome!
Can't wait for further improvements. ;)
Keep the great work!
