RE: Gridcoin Hangout #44 Summary! (including opinions on Halförd's proposal)

in #gridcoin7 years ago

When I talk about the code-base I really mean a basic stuff, like transaction, block and peer handling, fork resolution and GUI model. Everything specific to gridcoin would have to be built on top using either current implementation or any of the current proposals (including Robs).

I stand by bitcoin-core codebase, because I feel it received the most attention and most of the other coins are wither forks from some point in past or re-implementations that received (unconfirmed) less formal and hacker verification.

Also I do not trash the idea of porting over some useful feature form another coin. Or even using that coin as a base, if a detailed mapping of the foreign features into our requirements is shown.

Get a nice, simple and clean base and then work from there.

friggin yep. we talked about a lot of stuff, and argued a little... but one thing we could all agree on is that moving to a new codebase might excise some current developers.

we should figure out HOW we're going to do it, and test on testnet, before proceeding with any real changes.
