Readers Drives: Gridcoin/BOINC hardware porn!
In a shameless rip-off of the main Gridcoin forum, I have brought the hardware porn thread to steemit:
Here is my little battalion of crunchers, whats in your arsenal?
Top Right: Home Brew Core i7-6700k @4.2Ghz + GTX 780Ti, Samsung 840 Evo SSD, Platimax PSU for super efficient crunchin', this one is cool and quiet, you wont hear her coming (oh behave!).
Main Left: Acer Core i5 430M, thats one hot baby, she needs some TThrottle I can tell ya!
Bottom Left: Raspberry Pi3 b, 8GB USB and Noctua 12v fan running on USB, this BOINCs and runs my Gridcoin daemon, this one goes all night!
Bottom Left +1: Raspberry pi2 b, 16GB USB and Noctua 12v fan running on USB, this BOINCs and runs my SolarCoin daemon, not as hot as Pi3, but she tries.
Middle Bottom: Its the Galaxy S6 twins, they give it all they can in the name of Science!
Bottom Right: Sony Xperia Z4 Tab, thats some high resolution BOINCing there, yeah baby!
Come on Gridcoin/BOINC people, show off your mining/crunching kit here...
Remember you can easily find all your steemified Gridcoin goodness at https://beta.chainbb.com/forum/gridcoin
That's a really nice case on your main rig!
My old rig:
Yeah its a Silverstone Fortress FT02, got those nice big fans spinning on the bottom and exhausts from the top, I just love that the heat rises naturally anyway.
Your old rig looks like a monster...
When you say 'old', is there now an even bigger one??
Lets hope so, perhaps it doubles as a wood chipper!
wait, talk to me about mining with raspberry pi 3's - that's interesting to me, did'nt think they had enough ummfff to crunch anything. .. also, readers drives? that's genius.. ..
Well the Pis are a topup to the other stuff really, I run in the daytime on solar power so keep my laptop and PC off at night. The Pis are a great way to have full nodes staking 24/7, both to support the network and to give me max return for very little power usage. I also use the Pis for a little bit of programming.
I blogged the other day on Raspberry Pi install https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@scalextrix/how-to-install-gridcoinboinc-on-a-raspberry-pi
fair enough.
very nice build! I'll post mine soon!
