There will be some time before the mandatory update to version 2 are made, but everyone should upgrade to version 3.5.7.7 as soon as possible.

Thanks for the news.
"everyone should upgrade to version 3.5.7.7 as soon as possible"
Could you point out a link to the proper update procedure for Linux (Ubuntu)?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I went to the URL you suggested and there is no "Upgrade" procedure as such.
I guess you need to do a complete rebuilt of the wallet every time you want to upgrade.
I wish there was a simpler way like "gridcoinresearchd update wallet" or something like that ;)

I've posted a HowTo on steemit about setting up a wallet staking 24hrs/day. It has a nice script for building the wallet from source in it. Take a look at it and ask anyone in the IRC Chat or Forum if you have any more questions.

Is caption with credits below the Gridcoin image really necessary? I mean, we as a community usually don't credit each other below every pic. If it's submitted to the community then it's available to the community (I guess). I am sure I have posted some pics here without crediting them, I hope that's OK with everybody.

OK, this specific pic was submitted to our splash image contest, so some credits obviously apply, but general Steemit public won't know that, especially since that caption is counted as a first sentence and displayed below the headline in everyone's feed - surely that space is too prominent and important for some simple credits?

I agree with you here vortac, to 100%. I credited this image in two posts, mainly because I want Freshfund to have some exposure for his work. There won't be any more credit for the image in the future since it is posted to the community and made available to us trough that. This was just a simple way of saying thank you to the creator of the image.

I finally got around to setting up mining last night on a pc already mining ETC.
I hope I did everything right, looks like it's mining away on World Community Grid under bluehorseshoe and on team gridcoin.
Is tethering the gridcoin windows wallet v3.5.7.9-g-research to mining payouts as simple as adding my email address to the wallet that matches the mining software? I'd hate to mine 3-4 days and find out I did something wrong.

Did you send the beacon from the Gridcoin Wallet? The beacon is necessary to register your BOINC CPID in the Gridcoin system and enable research payouts in turn. More here: http://gridcoin.us/Guides/acquire-grc.htm

Note: If you joined the pool, then sending a beacon is not necessary.

Is sending a beacon accomplished by having my email address in the conf file? I just checked and it appears to be there. Here's what my wallet currently shows along with an out of sync message at the top:

Yes, your wallet is still syncing. When synced, you must aquire few Gridcoins (either by buying them or through faucets) and send a beacon. Beacon should be sent automatically, but you can always force it manually by typing "execute advertisebeacon" into Console (Help | Debug | Console). Your wallet must be fully unlocked to send a beacon.

If you don't have any GRC, type your GRC address here and we'll send you some - 10 GRC is usually more than enough to get started.

Thank you for your help.

Sent you 20 GRC. Pass them on to next newbie when you are all set up.
