Estimations from new ByteBall rewarding rules
Hi all.
As you might know, ByteBall changed their WCG rewarding rules. Here is notice from wallet:
Dear WCG cruncher,
First of all, thank you for donating your computing power for good! We recently won the THOR challenge because of all of your hard work, you deserve a big compliment for that.
Perhaps partly because of this challenge, we have recently observed some users who have connected a very large number of devices. While awesome for WCG this does defeat part of the purpose of why we’re giving away Bytes through this initiative. We want to introduce as many people as possible to Byteball, not distribute a large part of the undistributed funds to professional computing power aggregators.
To balance it out a little bit we are going to introduce diminishing returns to the reward schedule. Starting Nov 20, anyone who has more than 40 devices connected will see a drop off in Bytes rewarded for the devices above 40. You’ll still get rewarded full WCG points for all devices.
Thanks for your understanding and continuous support of this initiative. Together we have donated more than 2000 years of computing time!
Happy crunching :)
The Byteball Team
I did table with estimations - how much hosts account have and how much their reward changed (in %). Table is not very long, there is accounts, who lose in reward value:
Hello, CharityEngine. Hello, gridcoin pools. Hello, boid. Hello, Biblepay.
We listened to the wcg community and changed the reward scheme. The limit has been increased to 40 devices per year of seniority. So i.e. if you’re already crunching in wcg for three years, you can have up to 120 devices with no reduction in rewards.
Happy crunching! 💪🙂
Thanks for information, I'll do new table soon :)
Did table for 2018-11-26, nothing changed significally:
Those who really want will just set up a second WCG account.
Like grcpool also has several BOINC accounts, due to pool management reasons.
So for single persons or 'small' pools it may be applicable to just create more accounts to bypass this penalty.
Grcpool has multiple accounts, yes. All three are in the top, with -98 %. As I know gridcoin system is not allowing multiple accounts to single staking address. Each account should have enough GRC to earn GRC rewards too.
