Einstein@home's GDPR compaliance change

in #gridcoin6 years ago

E@H will soon default to not allowing users' data to be posted to BOINCstats. Users will have to enable this sharing. Information may be found at https://einsteinathome.org/content/gdpr-new-website-features-and-statistics-export-option.

This will probably bust Gridcoin's support for E@H.

I don't see why this would stop Gridcoin from having Einstein back on the whitelist. Stat exports will work for everyone who opts-in, and once the new scraper is up and running, stat gathering needed to calculate Magnitude should work just fine.

If or if not this will end E@H's whitelisting in the long run is mainly decided by the currently running poll https://gridcoinstats.eu/poll/poll_on_new_boinc_project_whitelist_mandatory_requirement_-_stats_exports
As of today's status of this poll you can expect, that the Gridcoin community will assign an adaption to this new way of stats export. AFAIK the devs are already working on solutions.
