RE: 1-million block event with prize: tell your story... why do you like BOINC and Gridcoin ?

in #gridcoin7 years ago

The first time I knew about Gridcoin was when I saw an advertisement in boincstats.com during november 2016 I think. Before that I was using BOINC during several years, my favourite projects was Collatz Conjecture for my Radeon HD5450 and Rossetta for my Core 2 Quad Q6600.

So I joined and earned my first GRC in the Gridcoin IRC. I loved playing the decrypt game there, for those that did not know about it was a game run by a bot that was giving clues for discovering a code number, the first user who discovered the code received a GRC reward.

So when my Gridcoin wallet sent the beacon I started to look for the most profitable projects, those that I crunched the most were PrimeGrid for the GPU and YAFU for the CPU.

As more and more users started to join Gridcoin, with much newer GPUs and CPUs my staking times started to increase and increase. Fortunately the first Gridcoin pool was created soon, and I joined it.

Then the spring arrived so I stopped crunching as usual, because my bedroom is already too hot without my computer crunching. But with the experience obtained by using Gridcoin I started to join another coins, obtaining little amounts of coins from faucets and doing small tasks like filling surveys and downloading smartphone apps for trying them.

And now I am here, trying to get some Steem during summer and trying to get a new computer for start mining Gridcoin again this autum. I am holding around 60% of my total Gridcoin earnings and I hope price will rise soon now that the superblocks problems are solved.

So in conclusion I like Gridcoin because it promotes BOINC crunching, which is much more useful than other mining algorithms, and also because it was my entrance in cryptocurrency world. I encourage everyone to give BOINC and Gridcoin a try.
