RE: Gridcoin community hangout #036

in #gridcoin7 years ago (edited)

Dev news:

After some bumps in the road with the superblocks we now have a deeper understanding on why we have had such problems getting to the blocks lately. A stat cache proxy has been implemented to take some strain off of the project servers and to increase the consensus rate until we get to NN2.0.

After the superblock issues settled down, staging was finally merged to master and just got released as 3.5.9.9. Expect lower CPU usage, vastly improved translations, crash fixes and RPC command improvements. See full changelog for details.

Coming up is reviewing and testing Tomas' V8 stake kernel and additional UI improvements from @huppdiwupp, but we'll get to those in the next hangout.

In this regard, I'd love to hear what the process is like when getting things added to prod... nothing in terms of personal opinion, just what it requires to find problems, test, and getting them into a release. Also, maybe an update on how the new payment system seems to be working so far -- yes there's only 1 month of record keeping so far but just general first impressions maybe?

hugs'n'kisses

I usually do a code review to see if I can find any errors or simpler ways of doing things, adding comments to the PR as I go along. Then I pull the actual branch and see if it works as intended. When I see that it works and the comments are sorted out the PR is merged to staging to mature. At that point we have no routines to follow up the tests. It's mostly to each their own where people test whatever problems they have report. This is an definitely an improvement area though I'm not sure how to do it without making it cumbersome.

Regarding the payment system I have no idea. I assumed it would kick in after the poll, then I forgot about it :D
