Progress after getting my BOINC client up and running again (Rebuilding MAG one day at a time)

After getting my BOINC client up and at 'em again I thought I'd share an update as to how the Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB GPU has been performing on the BOINC platform and how it has translated to MAG and Rac increases since coming online.
It looks pretty impressive to me, but then it is off a very low base (that being my Windows 10 i3 laptop BOINCing intermittently). The wife and I were on holiday during December and the laptop was off most of the time as you can see.

I'm running World Community Grid off my Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz [Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 5] 8 thread CPU (it's old but it keeps serving me well) and running Asteroids@home on the 1060. MSI Afterburner tells me my GPU is running quite happily with a slight overclock. Temperature is slightly high but it is summer here and ambient is high 20's to low 30's centigrade during the day.

You will notice a drop on the graphs for yesterday and that's due to me trying to add GPUGrid and something going wrong. Having a closer deadline GPUGrid dropped a huge task with a 3 day estimated duration that blocked all my Asteroid tasks for about a day and a half. It then transpired that the client wasn't correctly linked with grcpool and I got no credit for BOINCing the task. We were unimpressed...

I've sorted out that issue and Asteroids@home tasks are happily being crunched again. Currently it appears that the GPU knocks out the tasks in about a third of the time that the "estimated remaining time" clock shows which bodes well for future MAG and rac increases. Rac currently looks like this:

While you can clearly see the effect of the GPUGrid snafu on the Asteroids rac, the more interesting thing for me is the massive jump on WCG on day one and then fairly consistent growth on the following days. I haven't been using the rig for much of anything except general browsing so I don't know what would have caused that. It will be interesting to see what happens going forward since I previously maxed out at about 1GRC per day reward. Unfortunately I can't remember what MAG I was hitting back then.

In closing I have a question for the Gridcoin community here on Steemit. Has anybody figured out optimized OC settings for a 1060 running BOINC tasks or is it impossible to do due to the variety of tasks? I'd like to fine-tune my GPU to maximize my BOINCing so advice would be appreciated.

As best I can tell GRC mining never returns enough GRC to even cover the power it costs to mine it, especially a hungry GPU like that... How about you?

Then again that's not why I mine GRC anyway.

Same here. At the current GRC price I probably need to hit about 30 GRC per day to compete with what I can get selling my soul to NiceHash. Considering my old GPU got me to about 1.5 GRC per day I doubt the new one will get me much over 30 per day, if that... Power costs should be covered if I can clear 10 GRC per day. Still... This is an experiment to see what it can do. I really like the Gridcoin idea and I like knowing that I'm contributing to knowledge and keeping the darkness away a little while longer.

Also... Why am I not following you anymore? I used to and I don't recall unfollowing you. Gremlins...
