SRBase - Prime numbers found
SRBase is a mathematical research project that uses Internet-connected computers trying to solve Sierpinski / Riesel Bases up to 1030, the project is in collaboration with the Mersenne CRUS project. It is using the BOINC platform to transfer workunits to computers and has 430 active users.
SRBase is also one of the 25 whitelisted Gridcoin projects. Gridcoin rewards BOINC users in paying GRC for their efforts, which can help to offset a part of the costs like electricity bills.
Today there was a message on the SRBase forum that 3 primes were found. One of them was found by Gridcoin team member @Deltik who is currently second in the project team stats. This is his next prime number after finding the last one in September.
The prime is 508x1017^199220-1 and after official validation will be included in Chris K. Caldwell list of 5000 largest known primes.
Congratulations to @Deltik in finding this prime number and another succes story for Gridcoin in directly contributing to science.
The info on the forum can be found here.
Thanks for reading. Follow me for more BOINC & Gridcoin related articles.
Top 5000 primes that means 350k+ digits.
IIRC
Tagging @deltik so he sees this. Congrats!
You're right, I have modified it in the text above as well.
