GRC earning trends

in #gridcoin7 years ago (edited)

There are a lot of good Gridcoin and BOINC stats sites but I always look for more numbers.

I was interested to understand the developing trends in terms of GRC earnings per project and factors potentially impacting these earnings.

Gridcoinstats (https://www.gridcoinstats.eu/), BOINCStats (https://boincstats.com/) and Coinmarket (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/gridcoin/) provide some very useful insides but it still didn’t help me absorbing the information in an easy manner.

Seven weeks ago, I started collecting and combining data from these 3 sites to generate four indicators per project. Based on available information, and not to make it too complicated, I took the 4 indicators below for each whitelisted project. They basically help to select the project that generate most GRCs from your equipment:

  • Recent average RAC
  • Team RAC vs Overall RAC %
  • GRC per 1k RAC
  • USD per 1k RAC

Every indicator has a RAC element but fortunately @hotbit has recently created an interesting article how to calculate the RAC for your equipment. You can find it here: https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@hotbit/rac-and-grc-rewards-for-dummies-calculate-you-maximum-rac-in-5-seconds

Now to the rational of these four indicators:

  1. Team RAC: This indicator is useful to monitor as it directly impacts the mining result of your equipment when it is increasing or decreasing.
  2. Team %: You can look at the indicators in a number of ways:
    • This indicator is useful to assess the potential thread of BOINCers outside the Gricoin network joining with a pre-existing RAC value. It could instantly decrease the number of GRCs you can mine.
    • This indicator also presents the downside risk in case team requirements are lifted, the lower the % the higher the potential impact
    • Not directly related to mining earnings but still interesting, you can also look at this indicator as a success factor. The higher the % or the increasing % shows Gridcoin’s success to be or become the mayor player for the presented project.
  3. GRCs per 1k RAC: With the equipment RAC, you can assess the amount of GRCs to earn per day. The value represents the number of GRCs per 1000 RAC points. Obviously any upward or downward movement of this indicator will directly affect the number of GRCs that can be mined but by analysing the trend it can help to transition to other projects with better opportunities.
  4. USDs per 1k RAC: This indicator converts the GRC value into USD and presents the number of USDs earned per project. The number of GRC could go down for your equipment but if the GRC value in USD terms increases you could still achieve a net positive result (please bear in mind that this indicator does not include the cost of electricity or investments in equipment).

I hope you find the overview below useful and I look forward to any feedback. In case there is an interest, I can provide a weekly update of these numbers and I could give some highlights on the indicator developments.

DISCLAIMER: The 4 indicators will provide support in selecting the best project for your equipment and I have prepared the information with care to be as accurate as possible (based on the data on the 3 websites) but I can’t be held liable for achieving the number of GRCs or USDs as presented in the graphs.
