RE: Let's Talk Marketing Gridcoin. A Response To The Proposed Marketing Initiative.
Very in-depth explanation, and awesome to see the volunteers mentioned! :)
As always, I think one of the first steps that has to be taken is making the new user experience as friendly as possible. The gridcoin website is ...alright..., though there's a lot of new people complaining about it being unclear or a huge step to take. The grcpool tutorial video is already a very good start, but it's not the first place people will check for how to set everything up.
If you would be happy to give it, I would love your opinion on https://gridcoin.science.
I'm really digging the site! The build-up from need-to-know to -helpful-to-know information is really well done, the getting started is the first thing you see, and the links to other information are chosen well. I'm sad that (at least for me) it's not a site that shows up on the first page when I google gridcoin, and whilst I've seen the site being mentioned on reddit a few times, that was all the exposure I had had to it. I do think it certainly has the new user experience I talked about in my reply, so I guess that's something that (once the site gets more exposure and actually can get used as a starterkit) can be crossed off the list!
That is the best feedback we have had yet! <3
I can try going over it more in-depth tomorrow, looking at all the pages and information and everything if you’d like?
If you're offering - for sure! The site has only existed for just over a week, and we have not properly implemented SEO. I will do that tomorrow, to make it easier to find in Google.
It looks amazing for being online for so little time! Making it higher up on google will for sure help a lot!
I concur ..
I completely agree! The UX, documentation, and website are in dire need of the TLC the code has been given the past several months. Those working on it just haven't had the time to do it plus everything else they do.
Hopefully the completion of the new whitepapers will trickle down into the wiki and website as well.
If you want to contribute, feel free to do so on the gridcoin-community github.
The general repo link is: https://github.com/gridcoin-community
And the link directly to the website repo is: https://github.com/gridcoin-community/Gridcoin-Site
I still had the github link bookmarked from when I used to hang out in the IRC chat and was talking with peppernrino about transcribing the hangouts before life happened and school got too busy, but I'll try to have a look at it again and see if there's smaller things I can do to help out when I have the time! :)
That being said, I completely understand that the people working on it have a lot on their plate, the thing I mentioned wasn't meant as a complaint but more so just stating what in my opinion should be a first step when talking about making it more beginner friendly! :D
