Gridcoin Branding Update - #2

Welp. Here we are. BCC is real, the CBOE is getting involved with crypto, and Gridcoin is now paying its developers. Life is good.
So what's new with Branding?

In short, we have been patiently waiting for the conclusion of the vote regarding the new logo (see branding update #1 for details). Despite the recent votes against by two investor whales, dropping approval from ~%90 to ~%60, the outlook appears to trend toward approval. No matter the outcome, this is the most voted on poll in the history of Gridcoin polls. Thank you to all the community members who have participated!
During our down time we have been discussing a path of action for after the logo poll is completed.
Here's what we've come up with:
First on our list is the milling of the Gridcoin Millionth Block Commemorative Coin. Only 15 Thousand Blocks Away! Some information on the project can be found here and here. Shortly after the completion of the logo poll we will initiate a Proposal and Design Poll for the commemorative coin. If the logo is approved there will be three potential designs for the coin. If the logo is rejected there will be two. The commemorative coin poll will be about a week long so we can get the milling process underway before the millionth coin is mined, so keep an eye out!
Second, and contingent on the approval of the new logo, Branding will compile media packs for community use. We currently have three media packs planned: Dev, Steemit, and General Use. All media packs will come with the standard logo in at least black and white on a transparent background so anyone can put the logo where they’d like.
The dev pack will be intended for use by the dev team so they might differentiate their posts from the rest of the community. This will make it easier to find crucial posts at a glance.
The Steemit pack will include icons, banners, and images which the community can use to improve the quality and visibility of our posts within the Steemit community.
The general use pack will include similar icons, banners, and images, but will be formatted as best we can for use outside of Steemit.
We will be spending time developing and designing these packs and welcome all who wish to join! A link to Slack will be posted at the end of this post.
Third, and contingent on the approval of the new logo, we will begin to organize an outreach endeavor which will focus on updating the Gridcoin brand on exchanges and in communities.
Fourth, we will refocus on client icon design in order to help @sckin (huppdiwupp) who is already working on the UI.
Finally, we will continue to encourage and support brainstorming and development for short, medium, and long term marketing proposals.

We all have real jobs too! If you want to help with these projects or anything else regarding branding please join the conversation! We are most active on Slack in the #branding channel and on Steemit. If enough people contribute a few hours here and there it's almost as though we're a few people working full time. We need organizers, editors, writers, thinkers, doers, anyone and everyone who is interested in developing and spreading the Gridcoin brand.

Vote on the logo proposal

Colors
There is a concern that because purple was mentioned in this post that it is the decided color for the logo.
To Clarify
There is no decided on color for the logo. Everything is as it is in Branding Update #1. The running poll is for the design only. We put purple in that list as it was a color we have been casually tossing around in steemit comments on threads related to branding. It was just a friendly nod to the conversations we've had putting everything together, really. We kept the phrase "At least" to try to clarify that there are endless options. We must develop these packs. There is nothing made for them but what you see on steemit already. Their development will require community involvement for any major decisions.
I have removed the color purple from the post for clarification purposes.

Just curious if there will be a vote on color? Seems like we need to have a specific logo and color to use on sites like coin market cap that is consistent across all sites.
We talked a little bit about this during the hangout earlier today. Keep an eye out for that.
In short, probably. We want to make it so anyone can use the logo in any color and on any background, but we want a unified scheme for external platforms, such as exchanges and coin market cap.
