RE: Gridcoin Community Hangout #041

I suggest discussing the ad strategy . It doesn't seem very effective to target BOINC users. Most of them already know. We should try targeting science layman. The kind of guy that is just reading about SETI or about the next "revolutionary" medicine going into testing.

For example. Why I am being targeted? Seems like a waste of money

Sort:

We targeted science websites last year. Basically, it's like targeting general population - those websites receive millions of visitors, you can spend $1000 per day and more than 90% of clicks will bounce, wasting like $900 in the process.

I mean, I could easily get the word out to 1000 students who would then spread it further by word of mouth. We have an investment society here on campus, and they had a massive event around crypto just last month. The reason I have not attended and pushed Gridcoin is due to the severe bugs we are experiencing. I do not want to pull users in and then have them mostly leave again.

Once we see more stability, which the devs are working tirelessly on, I can definitely get significant exposure on campus, for free. It will be much more effective than shotgun advertising of science websites too.

are you talking about the google ads campaign?

so we should try and get ads on https://sciencex.com/ and http://www.iflscience.com/ etc?

phys.org, medical express, and techxplore are all pretty related to what we do, and that's where i got my science information before i knew any better. :)

Sort of. Problem being that these sites have to be more expensive. Probably the best option would be to try to have an article published about us. It doesn't even have to cost money. Publish an interesting enough white paper, get published on ars technica, that would really be a huge impact.

it's a shame so many of your upvotes on this are bots. :(
