building a pi stack for gridcoin!
Hello everyone,
A lot of people are using some crazy setups, to very basic ones for boinc. i was going to get back into it and go big this time, with some used servers, but thought about the power consumption, noise, and space. i really don't do gridcoin for the profit per-say, but more for a fun project/hobby, and tie it into my love and passion for technology. i was thinking of what else i could do thats also small, and the lightbulb went off in my head, the pi lightbulb that is.
there is already a few projects like this posted on here, but thought id share what ive been doing so far. i went to the local electronics store, and pick up the following things,
2 x Raspberry pi 3 b+
2x 16GB mircoSDHC
2x packs of heatsinks
16x 2.5mm 10mm standoffs
4x 2.5mm 6mm screws
i also went to wal-mart to get
1x plastic container from the dollar store
1x pack of 3M 10LB test velcro
i put everything together following this guide:
although i didnt attach the pi's to the top of the switch i was also about to buy. i wanted to have a cluster for learning things related to it, but since BOINC is already cluster computiting, it really takes out alot of steps to get that going!
here's what it looks like so far after everything is assembled.
ill post an update with the 2nd pi attached, and the switch and even a USB fan to cool off the pis. thanks for giving it a look!
