Uhm, I disagree. On top of that, this figure rises as the value of GRC rises, and the Foundation wallet is staking 1.5% annual interest.
I agree, it's quite a lot of money. Interest alone is at the moment ~ $150k a year. I suppose it would be possible to find devs in Eastern Europe or in developing countries to happily work for $30k per annum, what equals to 5 full time developers... This number can easily multiply in coming months if crypto market stays strong. In general though @jringo is right in looking into the numbers and starting discussion about goals and governance. Another thing worth to add is access to funds / key holders. Although it is not marketing related per se, for an open community project transparency and clear rules have a lot of weight in how the project is seen, and as such we circle back to marketing :)
