It's no strange that competitors execute joint marketing strategy like this one. You can observe the same in almost any industry. If someone is acquirer of Golem, he is likely to be interested in Grdicoin as well. We need to reach towards these users.
In telecommunication, mobile operators are directly competing with each other, but when one have an outage, he can use Base Stations of another one. - Because it's in interest of both not to have outages, so they protect each other this way. If this is not the case, we would be out of GSM/3G/4G signal every couple of days :)
