RE: Most Unique Bottled Water in the World Come From Some Unusual Places.
Fantastic post @solarguy!
This is such a huge issue with "corporations" owning resources and services.
I bought land and a house in the area that I did, specifically and on purpose because of the abundant water source. I still have a drilled well and I don't have to contend with municipally treated water or the escalating monthly water and sewer charges and taxes.
The "not so great" in my mind is the CETA trade deal that was scheduled to be signed today.
It's being spun as a great thing for economic growth in Canada. What I think it's really doing is giving corporations the right to sue individuals for lost revenue if they stop buying goods...like water and hydro.
Here's the Globe and Mail's spin:

Another giant leap towards a one world government that is ultimately owned by corporations at every level. :(
We want to take our house "off the grid". Currently, we are piecing this together. We have our average hydro consumption down to 8kwh a month and so far, we have purchased a quarter of the solar panels we need. We've had the house wired to flip from hydro to a portable generator with one switch. This will also let us toggle back and forth once we bring solar and wind into the equation...the hold up is the expense for the technology at this point.
Yea it's really scary. Those international trade deals are gonna ruin it for nearly everybody. Canada has a lot more freedom when to comes to water than the USA.
In many States its illegal to collect rain water that lands on oyur home. You could be fined or sent to jail. crazy idea of land of the free eh. I can really see why many don't Hillary to win she support that type of stuff so did Obama even if they did't bring it about. I'm no t impressed with JT either.
With solar power is a good choice. I want off the grid as much as possible too. Solar water heaters are really popular though. Covering many roofs. They actually work and make water hot even in -20C it's too hot touch just like the regular heater. I had one here in another home i lived in. Its a good start if you don;t to blow the budget.
