My Favorite Greek Island Isn't Santorini Or Mykonos: It's Syros!
My Favorite Greek Island is Syros and these are the reasons why:
1) The island is not commercialized (yet.)
Right now Greeks are the primary source of tourism followed closely by all of the Scandinavian countries the project that came from a simple idea aims to change that (to a degree) in making discerning travelers aware of the island. This is not a huge party island rather an island that is perfect for discerning travelers offering year-round cultural events unrivaled by any other Greek Island.
2) It's a short ferry ride away from Athens via Blue Star Ferries.
For those of you that have never been to Greece I would recommend that you stay in Syros for about four days (to get that authentic Greek vibe) then head to Mykonos or Santorini for a couple of nights.
3) You can rent a car and easily hop around the island. It's small and you can't really get lost.
The first place you'll want to head is to the upper half of the island, Ano Syros.
Most of this video was shot from there by my really talented friend Chris Kamberis
There are a few exceptional beaches like Kini, Vari, Azolimnos and my personal favorite, Galissas.
Over the next week i'll be mentioning this island a lot. You'll figure out why when the week is over!
Beautiful. Its been a while.
Sooo long! I'm headed to Greece on Thursday
Thank you for sharing with us. It is amazing place :) Love to visit them but very far away from my country. Looking forward to see more beaches posts :) thank you again.
If you get a chance one day you must go :)
This is really a wonderful place I'm reading the wiki pages. And damn this place is one of the most architecturally fascinating ports. A truly incredible place to visit.
Looks like a place I'd love to visit. The video is great.
100% with you on this one! Syros may be the MOST GORGEOUS place in Greece after all! Went in 2016 for the first time and I am trying to find a bride from there now :P LOL
