Is Tom Hanks right?
Well, at least when he praises Greece he is spot on about this country - actually named "Hellas" which also sounds much better :)
You're probably too far away from Hellas at the moment and corona virus doesn't make travelling as attractive as it used to be but no worries, let me take you for a short ride around:
As I wear my helmet and reach for my motorbike this flower catches my attention:
Spring is here already and it is the first one from our tree which offers as delicious "koromila" fruits every year.
Earlier today the sky looked like this:
However, the olive trees under these clouds made their magic and now it's an (almost) clear blue sky, nearly a photographer's heaven so let's ride up to the ancient site of Sounio, around 60km South East of Athens. This is hands down one of the most scenic ancient sites of the world. Pictures speak better than words:
It is located at the very end of the region, right at the tip of the cape hence the effortlessly stunning photos (the ones you can take not necessarily mine which are unedited, taken with no proper gear at all). Keep in mine that it offers 360 view therefore makes an ideal place to watch both the sun setting in the sea and the moon rise from the other side!
Another great thing is that inside the site you can spot many partridges which are quite relaxed with humans, a rare occasion to approach them as in the wild this is just impossible. Have a look at the video:

Can you spot the partridge on this picture?
Let me help:
Can you see another one here?
There you go:
Undoubtedly the most important thing is the temple of Poseidon which stays there proudly for the last 25 centuries:
The marble of this temple is top quality hence it stays in this amazing condition up to date. Here's a video which gives you an idea of it and the site in general:

Yours truly by the way - just in case you wondered :) :
Every time I look at that temple makes it hard to leave it behind:
The route doesn't leave you without viewpoints worth stopping, at least if you ignore the ugly road barriers:
See you on the next one ;)
