558: Hagia Sophia’s dome collapses due to an earthquake in Constantinople.
1832: The Conference of London recognizes the independence of Greece and the Prince of Bavaria, Otto is chosen to be the King of the Greeks.
1953: Central Intelligence Service (CIS/ΚΥΠ) is established. In the 1980s it is replaced by the National Intelligence Service (NIS/ΕΥΠ).
