Gratitude Challenge: Day Three
Thank you so much @tojukaka for this challenge - 62 days of gratitude. I am really learning alot from reading your gratitude challenge posts.
I am grateful for this :
Humble Beginnings
Two years ago, after I completed my NYSC program.I was so excited, the prospects of landing a big job was on my mind. I was already imagining going to a big Firm, wear lovely suits/skirts and making cool cash.
But reality struck, months after months no job. I was sad, upset and felt like a failure. A lot of questions on my mind:What was wrong? Why am I still jobless? How will I get by? Is my CV poorly written?
So I decided to re-write my Cvs. Asked my colleagues and friends how they wrote theirs especially those who had secured jobs.
Yet to no avail.
One day, a woman came to visit my mum. She saw me and advised me to start with a teaching job. According to her, the pay might be small but it is better than nothing. I thanked her for the advise but I was not pleased.
I said to myself - Imagine, a whole graduate doing a teaching job that pays peanuts.
Despite, the fact I taught at schools after secondary school and my NYSC program. I didn't want to teach because of the desire to have a big job.
After a year of no job, I came across a post on a website about ex-corpers and teaching. I decided to give teaching a chance in my life.
I took a stroll around my street, saw a beautiful school that had advert on their wall. Called, went for the interview and finally I had a job.
During those months of teaching, I discovered the pleasure and fulfilment that came with teaching the kids. There were challenges too, but these children made me smile.I still have beautiful memories even after I left the school months later for another school.
Presently, I teach kids and tutor kids at home (home lessons). I look forward to doing my PGDE someday. I have discovered what I have flair and passion in - TEACHING.
Last year, I decided to send Cvs both to schools and firms. I was called by the both organizations but I choosed teaching over wearing suits/skirts. I feel fulfilled in this path.
I am grateful for the disappointments and failures because it had made me discovered my passion and path in life - TEACHING.
Dear Lord, thank you for letting me go through certain challenges in life. In the end, it had turn out for my own good
