Purple Fountain Grass.
Ornamental Grass species are an interesting alternative to regular ornamental plants. In the Northern Suburbs of Sydney, these Purple Fountain Grass plants ( Pennisetum setaceum ) have been used on traffic islands where they get infrequent watering and care, but the plants are looking very healthy , as it is drought tolerant. In the suburban garden, the plants are worthy of a go because of their striking foliage and flower heads. The plant is fast growing , and tolerant of all but the coldest districts, as it is not frost tolerant. It has few pests and diseases outside of it's native Countries of Africa and South West Asia and the Middle East.
