We just passed 200 million Steem generated!

Hey everyone! I just noticed this great milestone that we recently passed, all I wanted to say is that the block-chain has been working great so far.
Not many communities have had such a smooth backbone which has kept the site stable and true. To be honest, the word hard-fork has for some reason gotten a lot of negative views from many crypto-enthusiasts (i'm guessing mostly from bitcoiners and ETC-ers) and I don't really understand why as its literally a split that moves on to a an upgrade or fix that the community have decided for. On Steemit though my views have totally changed about the word hard-fork as it has been deployed and changed without fail time and time again.

Remember the time when some of our users with weak passwords had their accounts stolen? Steemit managed to get all accounts back to their rightful owners. Lately there is a lot of negativity in my opinion going around the platform just because of the price of Steem, but I think we should focus more on the positive aspects of the platform.

Many seem to forget that this is all still very new technology (and Steems block-chain is even newer as its Graphene) and I am surprised at how well our blockchain has managed to stay strong and reliable. Lately reading more about Graphene I am becoming more and more amazed by how powerful it is and I have been finding myself checking out more and more BTS related content.

For those of you who don't know what the real Graphene is, here is a quote from http://www.graphenea.com/pages/graphene#.WBiZFPl96Uk

graphene, is a thin layer of pure carbon; it is a single, tightly packed layer of carbon atoms that are bonded together in a hexagonal honeycomb lattice. In more complex terms, it is an allotrope of carbon in the structure of a plane of sp2 bonded atoms with a molecule bond length of 0.142 nanometres. Layers of graphene stacked on top of each other form graphite, with an interplanar spacing of 0.335 nanometres.

and more important this which I think reflects really nicely to the Graphene block-chain

It is the thinnest compound known to man at one atom thick, the lightest material known (with 1 square meter coming in at around 0.77 milligrams), the strongest compound discovered (between 100-300 times stronger than steel and with a tensile stiffness of 150,000,000 psi), the best conductor of heat at room temperature (at (4.84±0.44) × 10^3 to (5.30±0.48) × 10^3 W·m−1·K−1) and also the best conductor of electricity known (studies have shown electron mobility at values of more than 15,000 cm2·V−1·s−1). Other notable properties of graphene are its unique levels of light absorption at πα ≈ 2.3% of white light, and its potential suitability for use in spin transport.

With this in mind I am really excited about the future of BTS and Steem, I can see it easily replace btc/eth/others. But that's just my opinion, for now we can celebrate a healthy block-chain which has rewarded us with over 200 million Steem. For those who got frightened about the big amount and haven't know about it before, rest assured that the official @steemit account has almost half of all SP.

Sort:

Carbon is the wonder material.
When some bright lad figures out a way to make graphene by the acre...cheaply...then look out.
One of the things it can do is contain little bitty lighter than air atoms... with zero leakage
...the uses for which I'll leave to the student to find out.

I think you're right to be optimistic. the blockchain works great for keeping all data integrity! I think we're still in a transition period and after this the whole Steemit platform will perform even better.

@acidyo interesting post my friend thanks for sharing congratulations

Hi @acidyo
Upvoted, Followed, Resteemed! Excellent post!

Please allow @steemitfaucet to be link with your posts?

Thank you very much!

I don't understand the question. :)

SteemitFaucet was built in order to help people get to know Steem It better and earn small amounts of Steem . You can try out, play around with and familiarize yourself with Steem.

You will come across a blog that will offer a reward just to resteem it. By just clicking the resteem button you will receive a reward, why not.

EX: Resteemed: (1st Steem Saturday in South Africa) and receive 0.06 STEEM

Great blog post, The graphene aspect went over my head and how it is related to blockchain but still learned something new about 200 million mile stone. ^_^
