Grand Designs.
I've been watching episodes of this for years now, as seasons become available to watch through different means (Prime, Britbox, Youtube etc.). Kevin McCloud is the host, and his presentation of these home projects are amazing and fun to watch. He starts out with 30 seconds on a philosophical bent, related to the show you are about to watch.
He follows the homebuilders from the beginning of their dreams and designs, counsels them gently and sometimes a little harshly, on budget expectations (it's always going to cost more than they expect), and project planning (do it yourself vs. hired contractor). Things always go wrong - real stuff- he does not need to manufacture up drama like in most reality TV shows do.
Marriages and relationships do not always survive this incredibly stressful process, and houses do not always get completed, because the money has a way of running out. But Kevin is rooting for them, admires their unusual designs, and he points out the wonderful aspects of the finished home at the end.
He also points out how the home owners rely on each other and family and friends to complete their quest - this is a show about relationships as much as about house design and building.
If you're looking for something fun to watch, I highly recommend this series.
