Modding Gpu Bios in Ethos

Step 1 . Download WinSCP. This is the tool you will use to ssh into the rig run commands and flash the cards. -- https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

Step 2. Find your rigs IP address. Either by looking on the screen connected to the rig, doing an IP scan or looking at your.ethosdistro.com link. In this example our rig is 192.168.0.113.

Step 3. Open WinSCP. You will be prompted with a login screen Enter the Rigs IP address and the Login is ethos password is live. This is the default one so if you changed it enter your own password.

Step 4. Once logged in to the right you see some files within the machine. Now depending on what GPU’s you have this may change. In this example we have MSI Armor OC 570 4GB. If you have a modded rom file saved for your gpu go ahead and on the left hand side navigate through your directories to where you have the rom file saved and drag it and drop it into the miners side. If you don’t have your file don’t worry! Annoraks Tech has a huge repository of rom files. https://anorak.tech/c/downloads for us we navigate to the msi section and choose our gpu. We went with the 1500 Rom for our gpu’s.

Now I went ahead and renamed the Rom but on the left-hand side (my PC) you can see msiarmor5701500.rom This is the rom we are going to flash to the cards. Simply Click and drag it to the Right side so the file will be transferred into the gpu rig.

Step 5. In WinSCP click on open session in putty. Look for this icon.

If it doesn’t open, you may need to download putty separately. Once in run the command minestop to stop the miner from hashing. Once stopped close the putty connection and go back to WinSCP.

Step 6. Open the terminal window, It’s the icon right next to the putty icon. Once in you will now begin running commands.

Run this command to save the Original bios on your card/s in case you ever need to flash it back to stock. -- sudo atiflash -s 0 NAMETHISFILEWHATEVERYOUWANT.rom This command will save the bios from gpu 0 as whateveryounameitas.rom I saved mine as msiarmor570OG.rom

Next we begin flashing. Run this command -- sudo atiflash -f -p 0 msiarmor5701500.rom This command will flash Gpu 0 with the Modded rom you downloaded from anoraks or already had ready. When you run the command you will see on the screen some lines of code being ran. When its completed it will say finished or success! Each flash should take 10 seconds or less. To move onto the next card edit the command to 1-5 1 would technically be the 2nd card and 5 would be the 6th. If you have more than 6 card continue on with them. For a 8 card rig you will end with sudo atiflash -f -p 7 msiarmor5701500.rom You get the point right!? 😊

Step 6. Reboot the rig. Once done flashing give the rig a reboot. I prefer to shut the rig completely off and then turn it back on. If not possible run the command sudo reboot in putty.

Step 7. Now with modded bios you can achieve higher hashrate! In your ethos config file change the Core and Mem for these 570’s I used gloablcore 1150 and globalmem 2000
Each card now gets 28MH/s a piece.

Hope this helps!
