It's important that we all remember that most of the government doesn't shut down, only non-essential government services. I remember the shutdown in 2013 and remember thinking I didn't see much difference. If these parts of the government are non-essential, why don't we cut the size of government about 20%. Seems to me that would be a nice boost to the economy.
